  • You should not take GLP-1 medication if you're currently on insulin or sulfonylureas (types of diabetes medications) because of a higher risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia).

  • GLP-1s are also not recommended if you're using DPP-4 inhibitors (e.g. gliptins) as the combination doesn’t provide much extra benefit.

  • If you take other diabetes medications, you can still use GLP-1s, but you may want to monitor your blood sugar more closely when starting or changing the dose.

🧠 What should I do next?

  • Talk to your healthcare provider if you use diabetes medications

  • Let them know you're starting or using a GLP-1 medication.

  • They’ll help you stay safe and make any needed adjustments.
