Cheese is a source of protein and calcium and forms an important part of a balanced diet.

As you may have noticed, we don't provide recommended portion sizes for every food (including cheese) on the programme. This is because we know everyone is different and we all need varying portion sizes to maintain optimal health.

We also don't want you to feel like you need to measure and weigh every element of your meal, as this can contribute to an unhealthy relationship with food. Instead, we encourage a more mindful approach to eating and learning how much your body will need to feel satisfied.

With regards to portion sizes for cheese, this comes down to a common sense approach. How much cheese do you need in a particular meal to compliment the dish?

As a starting point, while you learn how much your body needs to feel satisfied, you might like to aim for around 40g or a matchbox size portion. We also recommend choosing full-fat options, as these will keep you feeling fuller for longer.
