Using the in-app group chat

How to use your in-app group chat to speak with your peers and health coach.

If your selected programme includes access to a group chat, the article details how to access and utilise your group chat throughout your time on the Second Nature programme.

What is group chat?

Group chat enables you to interact with your peer support group and health coach. Within the group chat, you can send messages and photos, and reply to and like messages.

The group chat is open as soon as you sign up. We encourage you to introduce yourself in the chat as soon as you've been added to your group!

How to access group chat

  • To access your group chat, select the 'Chat' icon from the bottom toolbar in-app

  • Then, select 'Group'

How to send a group message

  • To send a message, tap the 'Send a message' field at the bottom of your Group chat

  • A keyboard will appear for you to write your message. Type your message and press 'Send' when you're ready to share your message with your group

  • There's also the option to add a photo with your message by clicking on the camera icon to the right

How to tag your health coach

  • Type '@' into the body of your message. A list of names will appear; select your coach's name from the populated options.

  • Once you've sent your message with your coach's name tagged, your coach will receive a notification so they can respond directly to your query:

How to reply to a message

  • Hold down on the body of the message you'd like to reply to until a menu appears. Select 'Reply'

  • Type your message and press 'Send'. Your message will appear as a thread beneath the original message

  • To view the full thread, press the blue 'View replies' hyperlink

How to like a message

  • To 'Like' a message, tap on the heart to the right of the message. The heart will turn red

  • To 'Unlike' a message, tap on the heart again. The heart will turn white

How to report a message

  • To report a message, hold down on the message. The option to β€˜Report Message’ will appear. Reported messages are flagged to our customer support team who will be in touch with you to address the report.

How to delete a message

  • Hold down on the message until a dialogue box appears

  • Select 'Delete'

  • The message will be removed from the chat and will no longer be visible to anyone in the chat.

Searching messages

  • To search your messages, click on the small magnifying glass to the right of the 'Group' title

  • A search bar will appear - type in a keyword or phrase to find relevant messages and press 'Search' from your phone's keyboard
