People living with type 1 diabetes have successfully followed the Second Nature programme. Upon joining, you’ll take full responsibility for carbohydrate counting and relevant insulin dosing. We also recommend informing your GP, diabetes nurse, or specialised dietitian prior to signing up, and checking in with them regularly throughout the programme in case any of your medications need to be adjusted.

While we provide a brief guide on complex carbohydrates, you'll notice that our recommendations don't include all sources of carbohydrates. For example, we don't count carbohydrates from dairy, fruit, or non-starchy vegetables in your recommended three servings of complex carbohydrates a day. Therefore, you'll need to measure your own carbohydrate intake from all foods in order to correctly match your insulin dosage.
