Syncing and disconnecting Health connect

A guide to using Health Connect with the Second Nature app for Android users

Written by Anastasia

If you would like to sync your steps or track your weight in the Second Nature app on an Android device, you can follow the steps below.

Health Connect is the app you can use to bridge other apps - such as Google Health, Samsung Health, Strava, etc to sync to Second Nature.

Linking Health Connect from the Second Nature app

To make sure Health Connect is linked to the Second Nature app, please follow these steps:

  • Open the Second Nature app

  • From the Today page tap "Profile" - top right corner of the screen next to the bell icon

  • Tap "Settings"

  • Under "Tracking" select "Set up Health Connect"

  • You'll then be shown the following screen

  • For the instructions tap "show setup instructions"

  • Tap "Switch to Health Connect"

  • Make your choices and then tap "Allow"

  • Once complete the screen will then change to a confirmation that Health Connect is linked

Disconnecting Health Connect from the Second Nature app

If you'd like to stop Second Nature from accessing your Health Connect data, you can manage or remove this permission directly from your Android device settings:

  • Open the Settings app on your Android device

  • Go to Security & privacy > Privacy > Health Connect (on Android 14+). Note: if you're on Android 13 or lower, look under Apps > Health Connect > Permissions instead.

  • Under the 'Permissions and data' section, tap 'App permissions'

  • Locate and select Second Nature from the list of health apps

  • Toggle off 'Allow all', or turn off individual read/write permissions for specific metrics like Steps, Sleep, or Weight

  • To completely sever the link, scroll to the bottom of that app screen and select 'Remove access for this app'

If you reconnect Health Connect later, you'll need to repeat the linking steps above and grant permissions again.
