How do I change my weight units on the Second Nature scales?

The second Nature scales are only able to display your weight readings in lbs and kg. The first reading on the scales may show up in lbs. After they've been paired to the app, it'll automatically calibrate and change to show the unit you've selected when you signed up for the programme.

To change the weight unit in-app:

1. Open the Second Nature app

2. From the Today screen, select the Profile icon at the top righthand corner

3. Select Settings

4. Under Tracking, select Set weight unit

5. Select your preferred weight unit: kilogram, stone, or pounds

My Second Nature scales show different readings when I move them on my floor, why?

Tiled floors or carpeted areas can cause issues with weighing scales. If the surface is not very flat, any slight imbalances may lead to inaccurate or inconsistent weight readings. To avoid this, ensure your Second Nature scales are on a firm and flat surface, not in the grooves between tiles. Using your scales in the same place each time can help maintain consistency in readings.

My weight readings aren’t showing up in the app after using the scales. What should I do?

If your weight readings aren’t appearing in the app, your scales may need to be re-paired. To resolve this, try the following steps:

  1. Unpair the scales from your device in the app settings.

  2. Restart your phone to ensure a fresh connection.

  3. Re-pair the scales with your device.

After following these steps, your readings should start syncing again.

Can I still manually enter my weight?

Yes, you can still manually enter your weight by going to the 'Track' page of the app and selecting 'Enter weight manually'.

What does it mean when my scales show a flashing ‘8’ moving across the display?

It sounds like you might be referring to the four zeroes, which can look like an eight, and are a pairing signal error.

1. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your device. Ensure GPS is switched on and location services are enabled for the Second Nature app: Phone settings > Biometrics and Security > App permissions (under privacy heading) > Location > Second Nature (should be on/enabled)

2. Open the Second Nature app

3. From the Home screen, select 'Track'

4. Select 'My devices'

5. Step on the scales

6. Immediately select 'Pair new scales' in ‘My devices’. As long as the scales are paired to the app, any subsequent weight readings will automatically sync to your account.

The ‘Sync scales’ button has disappeared

If you've completely logged out and back into the app or deleted and re-downloaded the app, your scales will get disconnected. You’ll need to re-pair the scales to the app.

My scales are displaying ‘low’ on the screen

This means that the batteries need to be replaced.

I don’t want to have my phone on me while taking a weight reading. Can I sync my weight later?

Yes, you can take a weight reading on the scales and then the previously saved weight reading will sync automatically once you open the app.

How can I delete an incorrect weight reading from my app?

1. Open the Second Nature app

2. Select ‘Track’ at the bottom of the screen
3. Select ‘Weight’ > ‘View all data'
4. Select the arrow next to the incorrect weight reading > ‘Delete weight reading’

When and how often should I weigh myself?

We recommend weighing yourself at the same time each day to maximise consistency between readings. Typically, the best time to do this is just after you have woken up and been to the toilet. It’s up to you how often you would like to weigh yourself, however, we don’t recommend doing this more than once a day. It is also good to be aware of any potential obsessive tendencies when it comes to weighing yourself. If you’re focusing too much on the scales, avoid taking your weight more than once a week or take a break from weighing.

Why is the error message “Scales not found” showing on my app?

The pairing signal is only sent for a brief time so please make sure that you’re immediately pressing ‘pair new scales’ as soon as you see the weight displayed on the screen.

Do the scales have a weight limit?

Yes - the weight limit is 180 kg. The scales will display “ERR” if weight limit is exceeded.

Can I use the scales with a pacemaker?

This depends on the version of Second Nature scales you have. Please speak with our customer support team who will be able to confirm whether your scales are safe to use with a pacemaker.
